This Shift

I am back to night shift. What do you know? I’ve been used to working days that I’ve totally forgotten how it is to sleep when the sun is up and work my ass out during nights. My team had the choice, whether to work days or nights. We had a pretty favorable position in the shift bid but they chose the 8:30PM to 5:30AM shift because well let’s face it, night shifts pay a lot higher that day shifts. I could not blame them besides whatever shift I am in not really affects the pay part. It’s only the body clock that will be skewed not to mention the social life that will go down the drain because of it (would try not to though). Let’s see how this night shift goes and how long I can last without falling asleep in my desk (crossing my fingers that it won’t happen).

This shift has some perks though. I was able to get in touch with a friend from Round Rock and El Salvador. Scott and Mari are having a baby - will be due in December. I had a good laugh while talking to Guillermo. Ahhh, how fast time flies, it's almost three years. We’ve talked for a little bit and I will write a separate article about the conversations in the next few days. Still haven’t figured out how to write an interesting story about it. But I will try…It’s worth writing anyway.

So, it’s not all coffee…

Update on school:

Looks like I will be applying for a schedule change since the schedule I enrolled conflicts with my current work schedule right now. Sigh! Will wake up early tomorrow and head to school then go straight to work. I will then have to secure my school ID and library card and all that stuff. I have read our course syllabus already and what do you know we already have an assignment prior to our first class. We were tasked to study in advance the difference between financial accounting and managerial accounting. Unlike in college, I guess I am more responsible now. Guess what! I have secured a public financial statement, I am done with my written assignment, I have read the lesson and I have taken down notes. Great start, aint it? I hope I’ll continue the drive, this subject is only for 8 weeks anyway. All for a 4.0 Quality Point Index…
