In less than a month I will be celebrating my 27th birthday. I feel I am so blessed and instead of being so selfish and think of me and only me on that day I plan to give back this time. Well, given that I will be on vacation on my day would be enough already to make me smile all day. Having time spent away from work and the hassles of city living can be considered bliss in its purest form.
As part of my birthday give back project, "I Give Back", I want everyone to suggest what else could I do to make this day more memorable. Oh by the way, in line with this I am sending a kid to school and I plan to volunteer in a community outreach program as well together with my friends. So, tell me what else could I do...Leave a comment.

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balance precariously on the point of a knife—between desire and danger. Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

I say simply do whatever you feel like doing the moment you wake up in the morning, and give in to your whims like that all day. ;-)
Wow, Kessa!! You are so inspirational! Going along with your theme, I think you should gather up a group of friends and volunteer at a shelter for a night. You guys can help the staff prepare a wonderful meal for those in need. :) It'll be a new experience and you and your friends can bond while lending a hand. I'm sure this would be an experience you wouldn't regret.
Hello! I blogged about your giveaway here: http://cherrycolors.blogspot.com/2009/06/kessa-theas-give-back-birthday-giveaway.html
So lots of other people can enter too!
I have one wicked idea! Since you are no longer a small girl, you could 'revive' that one for a day.
Gather all the one you love (friends) and go have fun in town! Take lots of pictures, and if you have a karaoke or something like that, go for it!
You could also make a neighbrohood (if you live in a nice and small neighbourhood) party. Or do a group garage sale and give the money you get to the ones who needs it most!
One thing you could do is volunteer at a nursing home! You could spread the birthday cheer/celebration to some elderly people who could probably use some fun.
wow!
its gonna be your birthday...bdays are fun!
i suggest you try to have a reunion party with your highschool 'barkadas'.
its gonna be my bf's bday this june 18 & i plan to have a little celebration together with highschool friends..
why hs friends?
hs life is the best of all me & i would like to celebrate a special day together with people that i don't see that much...its more of reminiscing...
& wouldn't it be fun if after some time on a real reunion your friends would talk about it like 'hey, did you remember what we did during ...bday?'
because its a special time...a bday & a reunion at the same time!
we'll be gonna go swimming on that day. & eat the foods that we eat during the time that we swim together...like canned tuna, potato chips, grilled milkfish & the picnic while eating on a banana leaf!..
yay!
fun fun fun!
^_^
voulunteering at a womens shelter would mean so much to the women and children there. my mom was abused by her husband most of my middle school years, and we ended up in a shelter one year when he finally smashed her face in. we were not allowed to go outside and play or even do our own shopping, for fear tht someone would recognize us..we were not allowed to tell any of our friends and family where we were staying until we were ready to leave and start our new lives, it was like being in jail.there was not much for the kids to do, one time , volunters came in to play with us and do art projects, and it was so much, it was one day, and it meant the world to me. for one day, i was a normal kid againm kaughing and smiling.
or you could voulunter at an old folks home. my grandma and grandpa are in one. it is about 2 hours away from my place, so i dont see them often, but whenever i do go, i visit with them and ALL thier friends, and they LOVE it. we play games and they love to tell you stories, and they appreciate the that you listen while they reminisce. whatever you choose, i hope you have a wonderful birthday!!!!

First let me commend you on giving back to your community - especially here in the Philippines!! I've been fortunate enough to have friends that have pointed me in the right direction in regards to serving those less fortunate.
First, there is Gawad Kalinga! I have participated in 2 house builds already as well as the D.R.E.A.M.S (Driving Real Education through Arts Music and Sports) program for the youth - where there was a basketball clinic and a hip hop performance. Gawad Kalinga is a great group because you are helping people are first off want to help themselves. Plus, when you get a group of friends out to a housebuild it's actually lots of FUN!!
Next there's Smokey Mountain! My friends hosted a charity event out there. Exposing yourself to the harsh living conditions of some can really tear your heart BUT when you see the smiles on their faces that people actually care; PRICELESS. Doing a bit of Spring Cleaning (late as it may be) and giving the people living there whatever extras - canned foods, blankets, etc - would be awesome.
Now if you can't find an open event for GK or Smokey Mountain around the time of your birthday.. maybe you can reach out to the important women in your life that deserve relaxing and take them/invite them to a SPA PARTY :) I'm planning one for my Ate's birthday in July. Basically, get the women you love all together and have manicuristas come over to do your nails!! Facials and massages would be fun too :) My friend had one last month and it was a Twilight theme actually!!
Well that's it. It's awesome that you're doing this really! Whether or not you choose any of my ideas, I hope your celebration is fun!!! And if you wanna follow my blog, that'd be great!! - theeamateurartist.blogspot.com
Just wanted to add a link to my myspace photoalbum of the community service events I've attended out here.. just incase you wanted to see :)
Enjoy!

Oooooh sounds fun! Well maybe you can do something like in the movie "Pay it forward" where you do a random act of kindness to any 5 people on the street, and tell them to pass on the random act of kindness to 5 others. That would be neat :) Hope you have a great 27th birthday!
Awesome! This is by far the most easiest contest ever! To make your 27th birthday more memorable I would do a custome party or hold your bday party at a park near the swings and slide and be kid again. ^_^ goodluck to all!
to make your 27th birthday memorable, spend it with your love ones, families or friends, anyone you want to be with in that day , check in a nice hotel with a jacuzzi inside for relaxation. It is not bad to have your privacy in your special day ^_^

Thank you for blogging about this Mary Grace. :-)
I think it's wonderful that you're reaching out the way that you are!! You could volunteer in a Special Needs School or something. :) I love Twilight the movie and have yet to have any of the books! This would be such a treat to win!! purposedrivenlife4you at gmail dot com
i understand you have a generous heart that you want to give back to others on your birthday. so that would mean you can do some sacrifices on you big day, right? *lol*
as the saying goes, charity begins at home. have you tried waking up early early morning to prepare breakfast for your family? if possible, do it as a surprise to them. it is also good to include even your helpers, if there are any.
then during breakfast, you can tell your family how thankful you are for having them. share your fondest memories with them. you can also give tokens to them, something that would represent them. it can range from cupcakes for your mom who like to bake, belt for your father who used to spank you (of course, this should be presented in a sweet way!), cellphone to your brother who makes agaw your phone, etc.
then, after breakfast, you can prepare lunch together while the sharing of stories continues.
after lunch you can invite them to drop by a favorite charitable institution, like an orphanage, home for the elderly, or an institution for cancer patients. spend some hours there and give some gifts.
go to church at 6pm to thank the Lord for the gift of life and all the blessings you've received. and then you can spend the rest of the night with your friends or special someone.
the above suggestions are for you to spend your special day with the people closest to you, people who matter in your life. spending a couple of hours with the less fortunate, on the other hand, gives you the privilege of making them feel special and cared for - this will surely be a rewarding experience. it will be a long celebration, but guaranteed to give you memories that you will cherish for a lifetime.
advanced happy birthday kessa! may the world be blessed with more generous people like you. :-)
Happy advanced birthday! :)
How nice naman your ideas for your birthday. I also suggest, as a way of giving back, to go to your favorite church, and light a candle and say a prayer for everyone who needs it. Take care.
hi! Advance happy birthday!!
To make your birthday memorable, i would suggest you do volunteer work in the morning, lets say, a shelter for animals, or orphanage or maybe golden acres? then in the night or afternoon, you can do whatever you want to do, celebrate it in the way you want to, maybe with friends, family, significant other, or generally, in the company of people you do not want to miss.
Its heartwarming to be able to do as much for other as for yourself in your special day
Take many many pics, videos, and make sure to make a collage or album for it, so you have keepsakes to last =) I would also like to suggest that you have a cake in both events
Hiiii, Happy Advance birthday :)
For my suggestion, I always wanted to do this, while you're in the road or traveling, and you see children who obviously look like they are in need, I would give them a school bag, with school supplies/toy/snacks inside. I wouldn't include money since their parents might use it instead, so I would just add things that the little boy/girl would enjoy. :)
It's easy, and it would be fun shopping for the things.
may I suggest that you spend an afternoon, volunteering and learning, at the Arugaan Creche... am sure Nanay Innes can accommodate you...
I take it you're not married or a Mom yet...so i'd like for you to take that time to be with kids in an environment that promotes back-to-basics Filipino values
I'd love for you to be inspired... hopefully, that will help you in your future choices :)
advance happy birthday! the best is yet to come!
To give back.. Volunteer at a local shelter. Donate through the Just giving website.
But the best and most easiest way I find to give back is using the socialvibe website. It is a site that uses blogger views converted into money by sponsors. Its a great way to do a good cause while doing what you love.
giving back can come in many forms it can just be helping a friend in need that has helped you. Any help in any form in a way in itself is giving back.
Best wishes. Hope u have an amazing day.
Shan x

Email me through kessathea26 at gmail dot com
hi! this is not for purpose of winning. in theme of your post, i would suggest that you spend your day giving back to the person that inspired you the most to be the person you are right now. it may be yourself (spa day), your parents or any member of your family or a mentor... treat them and tell them how thankful you are for the big impact they made in your life. sometimes, we all just want to be appreciated and this time you can do that. wouldn't it be a surprise to that person how important they are to you? isn't that just a great way to give back? :)
to show someone that in this life they did something good?
