So, most if not all of you who constantly visits my site knows that I have recently moved to my new apartment. It is about six blocks away from my old address. I just changed my zip code from 1234 to 1233. Well, anyway I know moving is not at all fun. What with all the packing and unpacking of all the stuff I have. Muchos gracias to Uncle Don for making the move a lot less easier for me. It was overwhelming to haul all the clothes and shoes and bags and other stuff I have managed to stock in my old apartment for three years. I moved in to the old apartment April 1st of 2006 and moved out April 30th of this year. I am starting a new phase in my life in a new home May 1st. Sometimes starting over again from somewhere is a good way to breakout from the rut you're in...a breathe of fresh air so to speak, a change of pace to say the least. I haven't organized all the items inside the closet and overhead cabinets so I still have a pile of bags and paper bags lying beside the bed. Ate Nicole (she does my laundry and irons them too) will drop by the house tomorrow to get the organizing in full swing. I have arranged the stuff in the kitchen already but the bedroom is still a mess except of course my bed. I did something that really amused me. I hang the hammock and put Hera and the rest of the little TY beanie babies in there. I managed to transfer my cable TV service already as Skycable has a more efficient customer service and process than PLDT. Needless to say, I don't have my telephone and DSL connection yet so I am using my mobile phone as a modem and what do you know, I have a GPRS connection that is only good for instant messaging (browsing takes eons before a page displays correctly and completely). I am going back to the PLDT main office on Monday to surrender the phone and modem so they would stop charging me and will resume again once they install the lines. Ahhh, what a terrible terrible process. It's just so unfortunate that Skycable cable internet service is not available in my new area yet.
Oh, I have also replanted the amaryllis tubers and they are now displayed in my window together with the orchids that Mr. Flowers sent last month. Ah, the joy and pain of moving. It has totally consumed me for a good couple of days (packing, planning, moving, cleaning). The only thing I need to do in the next few days would be to replace the carpet, organize the closet and square off the change in billing address.

Your home should give you a sense of security and comfort. It should give you a feeling of being protected from the outside world. At the same time you should be comfortable in the house. It should have comfortable couches, chairs and beds for you to lie down and relax as your mood might be.
Here are a few moving in tips I got from OpenDB.net:
1.Clean your new house before moving in. Which would give a comfortable and clean feeling.
2.Switch on the refrigerator before using it. It will help in eliminating odour from the refridgerator and ready the freezer.
3. Buy all nick nacks which you might leave behind. You might want to buy nails, pins, tape to fix up the things at a new place.
4. Do some research on the cable and internet company in your area with competitive prices. Do it in advance so you have ready cable and Tv when you move in and dont miss your favorite long awaited movie.
5. Inform your electric, water and gas company about your new address so they could provide with the services or give you the information about the service provider in that area.
6. Inform your friends, relatives and your company about your change of address. You dont want to lose contact with them.
7. Try and not to buy any grocery more than you need before you move. It will save fresh fruits and vegeatbles to get rotten during the move.
8. Take measurements of your new house and especially of those corners where you are planning to keep furniture. You would get time to plan for your furniture placement and the placement of rugs. You would also have fair idea if you need to buy anything new.
9. Dont buy more than you need. Once you move to a new place you will have an idea what you need more or what you need to discard.
10. If you have suitcases dont move them empty have stuff in them. You may iron your clothes and fill your suitcase. You can directly stack them in your new closet without worrying about folding and ironing them and give you more time to concentrate on other things.
11. Inform your bank, also see if you can get your account in a bank near your area.
12. Get rid of all those things which you might not use. Donate the stuff to an organization or plan for one yard sale.
13. Remember to collect your items which may have lend out to your neighbor and at the same time remember to return if you have borrowed one.
14.If you are a member of your local library return all the books. Suggested to do so even if they are overdue.
15. Wrap your glassware, picture frames or any breakable in newspaper. Even better if you pack them according to room.
16. Wash all your bedcovers, pillow cases, towels and dusters. It is always good to start clean and fresh.
17. Insure that all the safety locks on the doors and windows at the new place work.
18. Take extra care of your plants if you decide to move them.
19. Try to move close to weekend. You would be glad to give your full time and dedication to your house. Also enough time to rest after all day of work.
This list gives you a jolt to think about all those things that you need to sort out before you move in to a new place. The earlier you start to think about things, the easier it will be when you finally move.
