I updated my Facebook status yesterday about the new diet regimen I will be following starting today and I got a few questions. Well, yes I will be starting a modern dietary regimen that very much resembles the diet of the cavemen. Bottomline: NO MORE PROCESSED FOOD.
The Paleolithic diet or most commonly known as paleodiet is a nutritional plan based on the diet of various human species in the ancient times that involves only wild plants and animals thus this form of diet refers to the actual ancestral diet. The food I am allowed to eat would be lean meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, etc.
As per Wiki, Paleolithic nutrition is based on the premise that modern humans are genetically adapted to the diet of their Paleolithic ancestors and that human genetics have scarcely changed since the dawn of agriculture, and therefore that an ideal diet for human health and well-being is one that resembles this ancestral diet.
Eat none of the following: Grains- including bread, pasta, noodles, Beans- including string beans, kidney beans, lentils, peanuts, snow-peas and peas, Potatoes, Dairy Products, Sugar, Salt
Eat the following: Meat, chicken and fish, Eggs, Fruit, Vegetables, Nuts, Berries- strawberries, blueberries, raspberries etc.
Try to increase your intake of: Root vegetables- carrots, turnips, parsnips, rutabagas, Swedes, Organ meats- liver and kidneys
