Mr. Flowers in Manila

After the endless waiting and anxious anticipation, finally, Mr. Flowers has set foot on the Philippine soil on June 12. He flew here from Belgium and I was at the airport a good 30 minutes early of his plane’s scheduled ETA. I must admit that up to that moment I had a tinge of doubt that he’s not going to show up. It was clearly an effect of the seemed to me as a very traumatic experience, the promises gone sour of someone I refuse to name by now. And everything got erased when I saw him waiting for me; he was in fact hoping I would show up as well. He sent me an SMS “Peek a boo, where are you?” and I rushed back to where he was and we hugged and he gave me a kiss on my forehead. I think that was the only part he can reach since he towered over me.

I checked in a day earlier than his arrival at the Ascott and got an upgrade from one-bedroom suite to a two-bedroom suite as they don’t have available non-smoking one-bedroom. Yay to that! I checked in earlier so I could prep up the room and hide some stuff I want Jelle (first time his name will appear in this blog) to find. I then started on inflating the balloons and waited for the petals to be delivered. After I was done doing all the stuff I think I needed to do, I got a text from him informing me that they are about ready to board (Amsterdam-Manila). So then started the countdown…from months, now it’s down to hours, 8:45 ETA NAIA. I tried to sleep that night but couldn’t so I soaked in the tub and finally was able to sleep a couple minutes after midnight. I slept in the other room so I won’t mess up the bed I prepared for him. Sweet! I woke up early, ate a breakfast of fruit and cold cuts and then took a bath and headed to the airport. I was anxiously waiting while listening to some music from my iPod and glancing at the arrival board to check if his flight will be delayed or something. They arrived some good 15 minutes earlier than expected. According to him, security was not so strict at all.

We then went to the hotel and he rested. Jetlag anyone? I then went to the supermarket and buy the stuff I needed for the dinner I am preparing. Jonah and Joyce decided to join us for dinner. I made Oriental Soup, Honey Glazed Salmon marinated in lemon sauce, Stir fried asparagus with shrimps, Green Salad, Honey Mustard Potato and Buko Salad Ice Cream for dessert (the girls bought the dessert). After dinner, we washed up and cleaned the things we needed to clean. We then watched a movie to help us fall asleep again. Long night…

We woke up a bit late and we had breakfast and then went to the mall to get our flip flops. We then watched CSI and then prepared to go to the airport to catch our flight. We were at the airport a little too early so we watched Spiderman on his PSP (I was with a man with one too many gadgets). Now, I guess it would be safe to say that Mr. Flowers is now Mr. Gadgets. LOL! The flight went well, we sat by the emergency exit door as he needed a little more leg room for his long legs. Hehe! We arrived in Puerto Princesa and we had a bus all to ourselves to take us to Honda Bay Port. And then again, we had the boat all to ourselves too. It was a cold, breezy and safe boat ride. We arrived at the resort and we were greeted with some native drum beats, lei with beads carved from wood and some cold drink with orange slice. We were then led to our room while a hotel staff oriented us of their facilities. The pool caught my attention. After settling in our room, we went out and searched for the “hammock”. We found it but lo and behold it is already damaged, it has a big hole in the middle portion. Well, anyway, there were beach chairs and the long patch of shore to sit on while relaxing so there’s no reason to fuss about it. After the shore walk, we went to the restaurant and had our dinner. My, the food was superb! We went back to our room feeling full and called it a night.

We woke up to a sunshiny day (much like what I prayed for). We had breakfast and then swam in the pool and the beach, laid down under the sun. I was tanned, he turned pink. We ate lunch and then got back to the pool again and then ordered fresh coconut juice and meat. He liked the coconut and said that it was not the same one available back in Belgium. I think they had the old one and yes, it is imported. Hmmmm, perhaps all the coconut trees in the resort are strange for him now. Hehehe! Much like what I will be feeling when I see the plum tree in their backyard. We went back to our room a little after 4PM and watched a movie to rest (hmmm wait for dinner I mean). We then decided to go to the restaurant to have dinner with our laptops. I learned a very important lesson tonight. Before we left the room, I handed him the charger. When I was about ready to blog, I asked him for my charger and he said he left with all the other chargers in the room, he didn’t expect that me handing him my charger means he has to put it in his laptop bag and bring it with him. Men and complete instructions… Hehe! Well, I can’t blame him, I think I’m the one to blame. Next time, I know better. It rained while we were having dinner and good thing I brought an umbrella with me. We walked back to our room with him holding the umbrella and then watched Harry Potter while I am writing this.

I am looking forward to our picnic lunch in the nearby island tomorrow. So for now, I am going to bed and will update you all again when I get a chance…
