Provisions for a Journey: A Travel Writing Seminar


The next time you travel to a destination, become a more observant traveler and bring along helpful provisions with you. With your pen and paper, learn to remember the journey and recreate the sights, sounds, tastes and insights that captured your soul.

Designed by Words Writers’ Workshop holds its first “Provisions for a Journey: A Travel Writing Seminar” on July 18, 2009 at the Ortigas Foundation Library from 9:30am-5pm.

The seminar is for beginning writers, travel bloggers, travelers, and other enthusiasts who love to travel and take their experiences down on paper as an essay, a feature travel article, an informative guide or even a book.

Tips and techniques such as preparation, research, note taking and writing will be discussed during the seminar. The three main topics include Writing for Travel Magazines and the Newspaper Travel Section, Writing for Travel Guides and Writing the Personal Experience Travel Essay.

A panel of well-seasoned travel writers will share their expertise and experience through lectures and a forum. Roel Hoang Manipon, who has traveled all over the Philippines and various Asian countries, was managing editor of Experience Philippines Magazine. Anson Yu has covered the streets of Manila as a writer for Citiguide and writes on travel destinations for Tulay Newsweekly and Appetite Magazine. Carlomar Arcangel Daoana, poet and traveler, has penned personal essays on Sagada, Baguio and Camiguin for the Daily Tribune and other publications.
