Three Of A Kind: Petia Pavlova

Just thought I'd share these videos I saw while searching for some interesting new songs that aren't aired on the airwaves yet. And here's a taste of what I found... Kinda catchy, I am loving it!

Petia moved to the UK and spent 8 years living in London -- her second home and her "favorite place on earth" as she says. In 2002 she graduated with a BA Degree in Commercial Music from the University of Westminster. In July 2004 Petia has completed a Master Degree in Music Business Management and has started production and publishing activities through her company Max Music, which owns the recording and publishing rights of her new music material. For her new album "Runaway" released on the 17th of December 2006 in Bulgaria and due for a release on other territories, Petia collaborated with high-profile producers such as Jam & Delgado (who wrote and produced AQUA`s "Barbie Girl" ) and Pete Kirtley & Tim Hawes (known for working with many pop acts such as Sugababes). December 2006 proved as her most successful month of last year as she not only released her new album "Runaway" but also signed a sponsorship deal with Sobieski vodka, who are the producers of her 12 month Calendar for 2007.

Healing Potions

Here's the link to the blog I have posted in the Pox Princess blog.

Here are the pictures of the products that I have used so far in the attempt to get rid of scars left by the too-late chicken pox virus that hit me late January.

I use The Face Shop's Ricewater Brightening Foam which I have featured in my other blog. You can read about it here. And oh by the way, while I was in the healing stage of the pox sores, Cetaphil helped a lot. It was a gentle and hypoallergenic wash that does not contain soap. It didn't sting or hurt when used. I used the St. Ives Apricot Scrub on my back and not on my face. It provided a gentle exfoliation for the old skin. I alternately use Bench's Seaweed and Papaya Body Scrub and the Yoko Yogurt scrub that smelled Divine. For maintenance, I use Revlon Aquamarine Lotion with Vitamin E and Elastin.

I am currently using the Olive line of Body Shop right now. It smells clean and so organic. It's a must try (although a lil pricey but every bottle, tube and tub goes a long way.

I use Myra E body lotion when it is a little humid outside and I need to be moisturized. It is nongreasy and smells very good too. I just used a 200ml bottle of this and decided to altogether switch to Aquamarine.

For more inner cleansing and Vitamin E supplement, I am taking 2 gel capsules of Myra 400E everyday. One after breakfast and one after dinner.

And this product, I could swear and attest to its effectivity although the biggest downside for me is the fishy smell (mainly because it has shark oil). You just have to religiously massage the product and you will see significant difference after a few uses.

Attention: Bagaholics On A Budget

I am a self-confessed bagaholic. Women, like me, just can't have too many bags. But I never was lured by the glitz of designer bags that carries a heavy price tag. I could not spend more than my one-month's worth salary over a bag I could sling proudly in my wrist or my arms or my shoulders (okay I confess, maybe just a little less than my paycheck). Anyway, hearing that a store that buys and sells and pawns and trades (new concept) designer bags (mainly Louis Vuitton and Prada) just opened in Manila is a news I could not resist. Thanks to Michaela Cabrera for featuring it in Yahoo News here.

MANILA (Reuters Life!) – Handbag lovers addicted to Louis Vuitton and Prada, but on a budget because of the financial crisis, are indulging their cravings at a Manila store that buys and sells used, authentic designer totes.

In the Philippine capital, the cash registers of luxury goods stores are still ringing, thanks to the super-rich who appear immune to the economic downturn. But business is also booming at Bagaholic, located at the New World Hotel in Manila's financial district, whose range spans everything from Louis Vuitton Monogram Denims and Balenciaga Motorcycles to Chanel Bowlers and Gucci Hobos.

"Women in general, especially Asian women are very crazy over high-end designer bags, and I am one of them. So it actually solves my problem. I don't have to buy bags anymore, I can use what I have here," owner Gigi Asok Bambroffe told Reuters.

Several websites offer used designer clothes and accessories, but one-year-old Bagaholic allows customers to try on their purchases before committing to them. And unlike designer stores which often have a fixed-price policy, you can bargain.

Depending on the bag's quality and popularity, Bambroffe sells them for a discount of about 30 to 70 percent of the brand-new item's price.

A used classic Hermes Birkin, which sells new for half a million pesos ($10,600), can be bought for less than 60,000 pesos ($1,270) at the store. A Louis Vuitton Speedy, the store's bestseller, goes for as low as 15,000 pesos ($320), compared to its original price of around 40,000 pesos ($850).

"The price is definitely to die for, because instead of just buying one purse, now I can buy three purses, and instead of just being stuck with one color, now I can actually do more colors," said businesswoman Danielle Parker, who has recently taken to buying more used bags than new ones. With the help of books and her own experience, Bambroffe has developed a keen eye for spotting genuine items from fakes and says only one out of nine sellers would offer a copy.

Most of Bambroffe's loyal customers are professionals and women with rich husbands. Some want to get rid of last season's "it" bag to buy a new one, while others don't mind being slightly unfashionable and buying an older model. She said she was surprised at the number of Filipino women willing to buy used goods. And the designer boutiques in Manila don't seem to see her store as competition, sometimes even sending clients over. "Vuitton actually sent them here to sell their stuff, and they go straight to Vuitton and buy a new one, so I think I'm helping them more than I'm affecting them sales-wise," Bambroffe said, referring to some of her customers.

Boys Over Flowers

I have never been addicted to any telenovela (local or foreign) until Boys Over Flowers aired on ABS-CBN. It is a Korean televesion drama which has been dubbed using the Tagalog language. It is an adaptation of the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango and is the Korean counterpart of Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden and Japan’s Hana Yori Dango TV series. Its cast includes Koo Hye-sun, Lee Min-ho, Kim Hyun-joong, Kim Bum, and Kim Jun.

Everyday before the local news air, I am glued to the tube together with J and J. And we swoon altogether...If you want to listen to the soundtrack click here and here.

Who would not swoon over Joon-Pyo's character?

SYNOPSIS courtesy of Hancinema:

The ‘Iconic Love Story’ for those who wish to stay young at heart forever!"Boys over Flowers" is the highly anticipated remake of the famous Japanese comic book series. Jan-di, the heroine, is the poor but bright girl who has a strong sense of justice and full of vitality. She transfers to an exclusive high school where only the rich go. In there, she encounters with the four rich and quirky boys and experiences love and friendship. The storyline illustrates the supreme fantasy that a drama can bring out the most. Each of us probably has an experience of admiring or dreaming of something. The drama ‘Boys over Flowers’ is the concentration of the admiration.
I have read the episode guide and it has piqued my interest all the more. Currently it is ranked #5 amongst the programs aired by the TV network.

I wonder who else watches this series...

Facebook Easter Egg

Easter is over but I am just about to share a new tech-related Easter egg and the most widely used social networking site right now, well at least in the office where I work. Now, all you need to do are working arrow keys (up, down, left and right, working A and B keys and of course the Enter key.

You ready?

1. Click anywhere in the Facebook page.
2. Press your keyboard keys in this order: UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A ENTER
3. Voila! You will see something nice.

Tell me what you just saw. Please feel free to comment.

According to a CNET article written by Harrison Hoffman:

This Easter egg is becoming more and more common, and a site has even popped up to track the sites using it. (You will have to enter the Konami Code to see it, of course.) ESPN has since taken its Easter egg down, but those that remain include Facebook, Digg, Google Reader, and our very own GameSpot. It's nice to see Easter eggs making a resurgence since they have been largely frowned upon by the tech industry in recent years, with Microsoft formally banning them from its software in 2002.

What you just saw is the effect of the Konami code that Facebook just recently dropped in the site...

My Bag Story: Spill All

I happen to pass by a blog maintained by Posh Pinay while blog walking and was delighted to know that she has an ongoing contest. She wants to see a picture of the contents of any one's bag and she will add an item in it: a fabulous SMASHBOX instant eyes shadow & liner palette (well, to the winner at least). What's a girl to do? I'm joining...

I'm the kind of girl who can't leave the house without a bag in her arms/shoulders/back/wherever. What do you know? If you carry my bag, you'd think I brought the whole house (exaggeration) with me. But yeah, it is heavy, what with all the stuff in it. And here's my bag contents...(first time that I will ever expose my bag in all it's glory.

As you can see, I have a lot of stuff inside my brown Coach bag, so much stuff so to speak. The picture speaks for itself but maybe it will be better for me to list down all the necessities and junk I have inside it. A blue Fibrella folding umbrella, toothbrush in a pink case, toothpaste for sensitive teeth, Bench Alcogel (Kiwi), Lancome Miracle Body lotion, business cards inside its clear case, office and school IDs, giant powder puff, black wallet, eyelash curler, liquid eyeliner, tweezers (yes, I have it!), 3 eye color palettes, mineral powder foundation, kabuki brush, tan blush, perfume, lipstick, lip gloss, pens, eyeliner, camera, cellphones, hair barrette, keys, big shades, my little Princess tiara (it's a picker upper when I feel princessy), and yes a mini sewing kit for emergency purposes (read:wardrobe malfunctions). They all fit inside perfectly ladies and gentlemen...

If you ask me why I carry so much stuff inside my bag, I'll just give you a quick answer: "You'll never know when you might need one". What's cool is that no matter how much stuff I have, I still know where to find them when I need them. I find solace in organizing them inside my bag. Anything lighter than I'm used to and I feel like I left some essentials. I know, I know, I could never ever give any justifiable excuse why I need 5 shades of lipstick or 4 pens or 2 eyeliners or even the need to have three cellphones (I have 5 actually, I just don't use the two as often so I decided to keep them in their boxes).

I know I am not the only girl with this many junk in her bag. Well, I guess I'm normal after all. Any one else like me, head on over to Posh Pinay's blog and spill your bag secrets too. Sshhh, don't tell anyone about my secrets...

I Give Back Birthday Project

In less than a month I will be celebrating my 27th birthday. I feel I am so blessed and instead of being so selfish and think of me and only me on that day I plan to give back this time. Well, given that I will be on vacation on my day would be enough already to make me smile all day. Having time spent away from work and the hassles of city living can be considered bliss in its purest form.

As part of my birthday give back project, "I Give Back", I want everyone to suggest what else could I do to make this day more memorable. Oh by the way, in line with this I am sending a kid to school and I plan to volunteer in a community outreach program as well together with my friends. So, tell me what else could I do...Leave a comment.

1. Anyone can join (anywhere you are as long as you can be reached by a mailman). For entries from the Philippines, package will be shipped through LBC. For international entries, I will be shipping it via regular registered mail so it may take awhile before it reaches you.

2. All you need to do is to leave a comment in this blog post about what else I could do to make June 17, 2009 a rather memorable and worthwhile day for me. Please do not leave your address in my site as this is unsecure. One alternative is to leave your email address so I can contact you for shipping purposes.

3. Winners will be chosen randomly on the 16th of June and winners will be announced on my birthday, June 17. Watch out for the announcement in this blog as well.

NOTE: Bloggers may opt to blog about this contest to spread the word...I would love it!

1. A Twilight Saga Book (in Trade Paperback by Stephenie Meyer) There will be 4 winners for this prize: 1 Twilight, 1 New Moon, 1 Eclipse, 1 Breaking Dawn - I've decided to award this whole package as the 1st prize.

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balance precariously on the point of a knife—between desire and danger. Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

2. TIME For Kids Almanac 2009: Filled with more must-have facts and stats than ever before!

3. The One Minute Manager: The World's Most Popular Management Method: The One Minute Manager is a concise, easily read story that reveals three very practical secrets: One Minute Goals, One Minute Praisings, and One Minute Reprimands.

4. The Face Shop Essential Mask Sheets

So, what are you waiting for? So easy to join. Thank you in advance for taking time to leave a suggestion or two.

I have found a site that I am addicted to right now. It should be a staple website in every girl's browser Favorites. Polyvore was founded in February of 2007 and it has converted girls and boys into their own fashionistas. Product Review: The Body Shop Olive Oil Dry Oil Mist

The bottle reads: "Spritz on lightweight moisturization with lustrous Community Trade organic olive oil. NORMAL/DRY SKIN" 100 ml (3.3 US fl oz)

The moisturizing olive oil in our products comes from an area in Italy that has produced olives since the middle ages. The Nuovo Cilento Co-operative formed as a result of people abandoning the land to seek work elsewhere. In a remarkable story of success over adversity, the co-operative has gone from strength to strength, cutting out the middle man to sell their organically produced olive oil directly, maximizing their profit and so preserving their traditional way of life. Every product you buy containing Community Traded olive oil further helps the community and local environment.

If you're already eating organic, you already know about all the great benefits. Organic farmers avoid the routine use of pesticides and grow their crops in ways that are better for the environment. Our olive oil comes from a co-operative in Southern Italy through our Community Trade program and is a natural velvety moisturizer for normal to dry skin.

Imagine taking a long luxurious bath or a refreshing long shower, I’m sure part of you would wish the experience wouldn’t end, yeah? You can use this product on wet or dry skin. Personally, I prefer applying it after taking a bath or shower because, somehow, it creates the impression that you trap water or moisture in. Thus making your skin feel refreshed and cool for an extended period of time. And not to mention, your skin ends up smooth, supple and scented, too.

I love the scent of Olives that is left on the skin, which is a great alternative to perfumes or colognes. This is a great option for individuals with dry skin since it promotes moisture retention. The organic Olive oil from Italy helps to condition the skin.

Active Ingredients:
Cyclomethicone, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Olea Europaea (Olive)Fruit Oil, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopherol,3-Methyl-4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1-yl)-3-buten-2-one,Linalool,Coumarin, Citral, Eugenol, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene, Methyl 2-Octynoate, Citronellol, Geraniol.

We Live In A Pink World

And a certain US soldier in Eastern Afghanistan is not an exception...Here's what Reuters had to say:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Thursday praised an Army soldier in eastern Afghanistan who drew media attention this month after rushing to defend his post from attack while wearing pink boxer shorts and flip-flops.

In fact, Gates said he wants to meet the soldier and shake his hand the next time he visits Afghanistan.

"Any soldier who goes into battle against the Taliban in pink boxers and flip-flops has a special kind of courage," Gates said in remarks prepared for a speech in New York.

"I can only wonder about the impact on the Taliban. Just imagine seeing that: a guy in pink boxers and flip-flops has you in his cross-hairs. What an incredible innovation in psychological warfare," he said.

Army Specialist Zachary Boyd, 19, of Fort Worth, Texas, rushed from his sleeping quarters on May 11 to join fellow platoon members at a base in Afghanistan's Kunar Province after the unit came under fire from Taliban positions.

A news photographer was on hand to record the image of Boyd standing at a makeshift rampart in helmet, body armor, red T-shirt and boxers emblazoned with the message: "I love NY."

When the image wound up on the front page of the New York Times, Boyd told his parents he might lose his job if President Barack Obama saw him out of uniform.

"I can assure you that Specialist Boyd's job is very safe indeed," Gates said in the speech.

The U.S. defense chief was scheduled to deliver the speech at New York's annual Salute to Freedom dinner in Manhattan.

(Reporting by David Morgan; Editing by Will Dunham)

If he wasn't wearing his pink boxers, will he be in the news like this? I think it's high time that the US Government recognize and wholly support their soldiers who fight out there, may it be in the Middle East or any parts of the world. These people are present day heroes. I hope my friend for almost three years who is deployed in Afghanistan now goes home to his family safe and sound. JLK, be safe always...

Ever-Changing Schedule

My flexibility is being tested nowadays. My team's schedule is changed again. For the past two months, I have changed schedule many times than in my entire callcenter life (I am exaggerating).

1st/2nd Week of April- 2AM-11AM ( we log off at 12NN since we have a mandatory after shift OT)

3rd/4th Week of April- 3AM-12NN (we log off at 1PM since we have a mandatory after shift OT)

1st/2nd Week of May- 3AM-12NN (we log off at 1PM since we have a mandatory after shift OT)

3rd Week of May- 6AM - 3PM (no more mandatory OT. Thank heavens!)

4th Week of May- 7AM-4PM (no more mandatory OT)

Ahhh! If only our scheduled rest day was not changed from Sunday and Monday to a Monday and Tuesday then I won't have any problem but my God, my weekend is screwed. I suppose I need to be more positive about this ever changing schedule and yeah just be plain and simple flexible. But, I am not happy and my team is not too. We need to be back to the graveyard shift. It is where the action is anyway...

My Favorite Ad: Open Happiness

Presenting, the 2009 Coca-Cola Coke ad...

The song is Strange Love by Koop. And here are the lyrics...

Strange love
Even though you hurt me I feel blessed love
Baby I'm your puppet on a string
Making me tumble and swing
Trouble's what you bring
Strange love
Strange love

Strange how
You control my every little move now
Hanging from your strings is all I know
Starring in your puppet show
Never let me go
Strange love

All the things you've said and done
There's no space for me to run
Baby I've lost and you have won
cause' all I really want is
Strange love

Even though you hurt me I feel blessed love
Baby I'm your puppet on a string
Making me tumble and swing
Trouble's what you bring
Strange love
Strange love
Strange love

How about you? What is your favorite ad?

Now That I Found You

I won't let you go...

Happy people plan actions, they don't plan results. - Dennis Waitley

We begin from the recognition that all beings cherish happiness and do not want suffering. It then becomes both morally wrong and pragmatically unwise to pursue only one's own happiness oblivious to the feelings and aspirations of all others who surround us as members of the same human family. The wiser course is to think of others when pursuing our own happiness. - Dalai Lama

Men spend their lives in anticipations, in determining to be vastly happy at some period when they have time. But the present time has one advantage over every other - it is our own. Past opportunities are gone, future have not come. We may lay in a stock of pleasures, as we would lay in a stock of wine; but if we defer the tasting of them too long, we shall find that both are soured by age. - Colton

Happiness is something that comes into our lives through doors we don't even remember leaving open. - Rose Lane

There is a circle here that links us to one another: we each want to be happy; the social feeling of love is one of our greatest sources of happiness; and love entails that we be concerned for the happiness of others. We discover that we can be selfish together.

Say What? "Paleolithic Diet"

I updated my Facebook status yesterday about the new diet regimen I will be following starting today and I got a few questions. Well, yes I will be starting a modern dietary regimen that very much resembles the diet of the cavemen. Bottomline: NO MORE PROCESSED FOOD.

The Paleolithic diet or most commonly known as paleodiet is a nutritional plan based on the diet of various human species in the ancient times that involves only wild plants and animals thus this form of diet refers to the actual ancestral diet. The food I am allowed to eat would be lean meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, etc.

As per Wiki, Paleolithic nutrition is based on the premise that modern humans are genetically adapted to the diet of their Paleolithic ancestors and that human genetics have scarcely changed since the dawn of agriculture, and therefore that an ideal diet for human health and well-being is one that resembles this ancestral diet.

Eat none of the following: Grains- including bread, pasta, noodles, Beans- including string beans, kidney beans, lentils, peanuts, snow-peas and peas, Potatoes, Dairy Products, Sugar, Salt

Eat the following: Meat, chicken and fish, Eggs, Fruit, Vegetables, Nuts, Berries- strawberries, blueberries, raspberries etc.

Try to increase your intake of: Root vegetables- carrots, turnips, parsnips, rutabagas, Swedes, Organ meats- liver and kidneys

You can read more about the diet here.

My Online Closet

I found a very nice and a very fashion-forward site. It's like reliving my cut-out paper dolls childhood moments yet again except that I get to access designer and generic brands and look for items in my closet just by typing it's name and clicking the search button. If only closets have search buttons as well, then looking for items would be plain and easy simple...

Here's my first try working with just my basic knowledge of the site features so far. I will be wearing this ensemble to work tomorrow. Preppy!

Princess At Work 05212009

Go ahead try it for yourself. I bet you'll be clicking and dragging and dropping files in no time. I will work on more projects tomorrow after work. Gotta go catch some snooze for now...

I have created a new account in MyLot as I have totally forgotten what email I used when I first signed up for it.

Anyway, I will try to update the profile as soon as possible.

A few days ago, I went on an impulsive buying spree. I don't usually do this but I did. I am not all stoked but I am happy with what I bought and took home. Maybe, this is better than splurging on something that I don't really need. Is it obvious that I am trying to justify the purchase? Hehe! Okay anyway, I raided the Face Shop, Body Shop and some nail counters for the polishes. I initially didn't plan to buy anything that day I went out with the girls, Joyce and Jonah. They decided to go to the spa for some foot scrub session and I decided not to go with them and just go to the supermarket to buy the ingredients for the pesto pasta I am making for the weekend.

I happened to pass by the Body Shop and well enjoyed my sweet time there. I had to use the vouchers I earned for being a loyal shopper there anyway. I took home with me 3 body washes (olive, papaya and pomegranate) and a body lotion (Ananya). Then I noticed that my big toe nail polish had a little chip so I decided to go head to Face Shop to check out some new colors. I bought a few colors and some nail nutrition coats. I also bought a couple face masks and this amazing rice water cleansing foam. I tried it once before when I got a trial pack free from the store last month and it worked well with my skin.

The Rice Water Cleansing Foam contains rice water(10%) Fit Protein orchid extract Vitamin B5 complex. Its creamy and cushiony texture eases handling and moisturizing ingredients leave skin feeling hydrated after cleansing by minimizing moisture loss. So far, it comes second with L'oreal's Pure Zone Line at least for me. I don't have acne but I like my face super clean feeling after using it. The Face Shop cleansing foam however smells so decadent that I think I'll use it more from now on.

So, after splurging on the two stores, I dropped by my favorite nail salon(Marionnaud) and picked up some Orly polish (Haute Red and Flirty Girl)and a Clinique polish (Pink Guava). I wanted to buy some Christina Fitzgerald polish but it was way over my budget for a bottle of polish. Maybe next time... Okay, although I go to the spa for some nail cleaning and buffing (I can do my left fingernails but not my right so I better have a professional do it for me for the sake of balance and pampering-hand massage), I still bring my own nail cleaning kit and polish too. Just being a little too careful...

I felt a tinge of guilt but I guess it isn't too bad after all when I know that I will be using all what I bought for myself and for some good indulgence.
