Goodbye March, Hello April

March is almost over (in less than six hours). Oh, how it roll by so fast. Everything happened in a blur. April is about to unravel more surprises and happenings but the thing I am most excited with will be the month of June. I am turning 28 this year (read: I am getting older). Overall, March has been very good to me and my family.

Oh and thank you for all the prayers and the thoughtfulness as my sister went through an operation (I was the one managing her Facebook and other online stuff while she was at the hospital). She is now safe and recuperating and all she asked me was to send her loaves of Gardenia bread because that was all she was craving for after the doctors removed her appendix and cleaned her other internal organs (TMI).

Anyway, I wrote this post too to share how lucky I have been this month. I joined quite a few contests/giveaways and I managed to win three. That ain't bad yeah? I won DJ Mo's (in partnership with Tradeport) daily trivia contest. I got the prize the day after I was informed that I won and guessed the correct number of ways on how you can pay Tradeport for your online purchase. If this is how fast shipping and delivery for orders really is from this e-mall then I guess they are bound to success and dominate the online shopping craze here in the Philippines. I got the package all wrapped up around 10 in the morning. I received a Philips Radio and an alarm clock with radio. :-)

Since I liked how fast the service has been, I can't help but rave about Tradeport and I have been eyeing items to order already (yay for customer service). I like that payment is not just limited to credit cards unlike most online stores. You can choose to pay for the item you like in seven, yes seven, different methods. You can either pay using your Visa or Mastercard (that can be swiped on delivery = A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!), Cash On Delivery, BPI Special Installment Plan, bank deposits and transfer, secured online payments through Paypal and Weepay and of course Smart Money and soon they will offer payment via GCash too for Globe subscribers. I love how varied the choices are. If you are from Metro Manila, you will not pay for shipping fee. Unfortunately Tradeport only caters to Philippine customers at this point. If you want to read more and browse through the extensive list of products available, please visit their website.

I also won in the blog birthday giveaway of Sophie at Beautynomics. I won a set of brushes. I have already sent her my mailing address and I am eagerly anticipating to receive 'em. It is just timely as I have recently ordered some brush guards from a fellow blogger. And just recently, I was informed that I won Annalyn's Hair Removal Story Giveaway sponsored by Veet. And here's what I shared:

"Have you ever tried hair removal for 3 hours? Oh yes, I have done it. I had full body waxing done last year. Not that I am super hairy but I was just too vain that I had to have them all removed (except my long locks and eyebrows and lashes of course). Before my week-long Dos Palmas trip, I decided to have it all removed so I’ll be more confident to strut my stuff at the beach. What’s horrifying about it? Well, after the waxing session, I felt so itchy all over and then when I looked at the mirror I had red bumps all over (little ones though). I didn’t know what to do and I was too shy to go out to buy some meds. Good thing I was able to keep some anti-inflammatory gels in my medicine kit. Ahhhh, beauty indeed has a price. I slept it off after and when I woke, the red bumps all diappeared. Geez, and for a while I thought my summer has ended right before it started."

On the office front, it has been crazy with all the changes but I am just swimming with the flow and making sure my own group delivers. I know for the most part that I have been overstaffed but then again it is better since we are not missing any callback and we have been greatly improving the output of the team just not the output of each one because we had to share like less than a hundred callbacks for 14 outbound technicians. Everything will be moved to status quo by April so I am looking forward to getting close to 200 fresh cases again next month (I have braced myself and my team for another ride). Bring on the challenge.

This post is so random. Haha! I just had to share... Hope you had a good March and looking forward to April! Ciao bellas!

Where To Party On Easter Weekend?

I haven't really thought of partying this weekend let alone go out on a Good Friday or Black Saturday. I guess my party days has waned huh? It could be over already. I don't know, I am not as stoked as before at the thought of a party beckoning. I have evolved into a domestic goddess maybe. LOL! Ah well don't get me wrong, I just could not find happiness in smoke-drenched clubs with deafening music anymore. I hate the lightheaded feeling of hang-over and the sight of young people groping each other in the dark at every chance they get. I am not trying too preach though in fact if partying is your idea of fun I will indulge your whim and invite you to party on my behalf.

If you are one of the many I know who will be spending their Easter Weekend in Boracay (braving the massive crowd to get your place in th sun), do not forget to check out the following party spots as soon as sun hides. And when you get back from this very long vacation in the island paradise, tell me your story and convince me that my "staycation" is better than yours.

Have fun and stay safe y'all! I'm headed to a little retreat.

The Summer Heat Is On

I bet all of you have officially started summer already and some have already gone to a beach or two. Well, summer kicked all our asses to the curb by coming too early, well, at least the heat did. The summer heat started scorching Manila sometime February and it hasn't waned yet except for the occasional rainshowers that barely even wet the ground (just enough to make the city a lot more humid). And yes, beach season is already here and there is no turning back.

I haven't started mine yet. In fact, mine will start when summer is over. I don't think I am going to brave the beaches with this kind of heat/temperature. I am not going to put the money I spent on my skin for treatments down the drain. The most summery act I did was to get a bikini wax just in case a sudden night swimming season will spur. Oh yeah, night swimming it is (or maybe super early in the morning).

To those who are not scared to brave the blaring heat of the sun, make sure you have ample sun protection. Do not scrimp, lather it all on generously. Anyway, here are some of the best sunscreen lotions and moisturizers and lip product that I have already tried in the past.

1. Nivea Sun Refreshing Fluid Protect SPF30 - you can use this as makeup base to help control overactive oil glands. Double whammy!

2. Hawaiian Tropic Ozone Sport Sunblock Lotion SPF60 - this is developed especially for sports enthusiasts, this does not run as well so it's safe to use even on your face because it won't migrate to your eyes.
Nivea,Hawaiian Tropics,Coppertone
3. Coppertone Sport Sunblock Spray SPF30 - this does not clog the pores and very much recommended for prolonged exposure under the sun (don't forget to touch up though). Another plus is that this is oil-free.

4. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SPF55 - since this is water-based expect that this is the most convenient and easiest product to apply, even the hard to reach areas can be targeted with ease.

5. Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil - your lips need protection too

Writing this made me so excited to just take the plunge and enjoy the summer heat but reason tells me to wait and exercise a pinch of caution. But of course, an ounce of prevention is still better than a pound of cure. So, indulge in the summer madness with extreme caution and yes, don't forget the sunscreen.

Short Nails Painted Matte

For those who follow me in Twitter probably know by now that I broke one of my nails a couple of days ago so I decided to just cut them all off short...super short. I am not used to this. LOL! I drop things, I can't seem to hold on to anything and I type really slow now. I am still getting used to having short nails and I am not liking it.

Anyway, I decided to paint my nails some hot summery color. I picked up OPI La Paz-itively Hot Matte and tried it on. I love it! It is a bright pink color but not over the top. It looks so fun and really summery. As it is matte, you need not have to brush on a base coat and a top coat and it dries super fast. The matte nail polish dries extremely fast (almost immediately) so you’ll have to paint fast or it will dry in a clump and get all messy. I suggest you paint on two coats of this polish. Let the brush fan from the top center part of the nail and then paint the sides quickly. Repeat as desired.

This is my first time to try a matte polish so pardon the streaky finish. I will get better in time for sure. I plan to make this my staple summer nail polish. To appreciate this polish more, click this link for a better swatch.

This made me want to own a bottle of Essie "Matte About You" matte top coat. It is really hot, so I have heard, so if you want you can get that one and just put it over any colour of your choice! But if you only get one matte, consider "La Paz-itively Hot".

I really liked how the La Paz-itively Hot came out in matte, it’s bright and has a little shimmer to it. Have you tried it?

Adidas miCoach Product Launch: Run Yourself Better

Last Saturday I attended the official product launch of Adidas miCoach (My Individual Coach) at the Bonifacio High Street (in front of Runnr). The event went great and was hosted by Rico Robles. It was fun watching the "runners" outrun each other during the treadmill challenge. I wanted to join but when I saw who else joined, I chickened out. Anyway, read further so you will get acquainted about the product too.

The Adidas miCoach is an interactive training system that guides a runner to either speed up or slow down by tracking heart rate, pace, distance, and stride rate. Every runner is different, every heart is unique. Your heart rate indicates your level of effort during exercise. miCoach helps you stay within four heart rate zones so that you get the most out of each run.

And yes, you can choose your coach. If you're a female, you can choose a male coach or if you're a male, you can choose a female coach. This option is completely within your control. How cool is that?

Adidas miCoach provides real-time feedback. As you workout, miCoach will let you know which training zone you’re in—audibly if you’re using miCoach Pacer or visually if you’re using miCoach Zone. You can sync miCoach Pacer to adidas.com/micoach to analyze your stats and get coaching feedback online.

The miCoach Pacer - a small, lightweight device that delivers real-time audible coaching as you exercise via headphones or combined with your own MP3 player. During your run, the miCoach Pacer verbally coaches you (i.e. speed up to green zone, slow down to blue zone, etc.) to ensure that you are staying within your targeted heart rate zone and keep you running at the right personal level.

The miCoach Heart Rate Monitor - provides accurate feedback about your workout performance. It relays your workout information to the miCoach Pacer or miCoach Zone which then ensures you're not pushing yourself too hard or little on your run.

According to Adidas: "The new miCoach interactive training platform completes the adidas sports performance promise of engaging and enabling all athletes to achieve their Impossible. Not only do we provide you with the most innovative footwear and apparel to perform in, we now offer personal coaching services so that you can get fitter, run faster and simply be better in 2010."

Run Yourself Better. Choose from plans created by the pro trainers and coaches:

Learn to Run
Be Fit

De-Stress

The miCoach Zone – an easy to read color-code LED display on a wristband device provides accurate, real-time coaching making it easy for you to train at the right intensity with the help of a heart rate monitor.

The complete miCoach Pacer system is sold atP6,995 while the miCoach Zone is available at P3,695. Both products are exclusively available at adidas Sports Performance Concept stores Greenbelt, Trinoma, Rockwell, Glorietta, as well as RUNNR Fort Bonifacio. It is also good to note that each part is sold separately.

Do you want to get your own miCoach for free? If yes, then join the Run Yourself Better promo! All you have to do is buy any Adidas Running product/gear that will entitle you to get a pledge card that declares your commitment to run better. Drop your pledge card in designated promo boxes and get the chance to win one of 100 adidas miCoach Pacers. Yes, 100 miCoach Pacers will be given away.

No minimum purchase required! Deadline of entries is on April 15, 2010 while the grand draw is on April 29, 2010. For more details, join the adidas fan page in Facebook (Search for Adidas Philippines). Promo period is from March 8 to April 15, 2010.

I Died and Woke Up In Lipstick Heaven

Yeah! Really!

These are just too pretty for words. I don't know what to say. Haha!

Nail Polish Parade

I dropped by the mall after work last Friday and took home these nail polishes with me. Oh my, these are unplanned purchases. I am such a bad girl. But anyway, I enjoyed looking at them and now I am thinking of countless NOTDs to do...I actually like OPI but it is very expensive here so I try not to buy too much of it. Good thing, the purchases I made today are some of the cheap ones available in department stores and drugstores.

Are you crazy over nail polish too? Have you bought some lately?

Blue Me Away!

I am feeling blue and so I decided to have blue nails to veer away from the red spectrum. I thought its a little loud but who cares. Hahaha! I just don't like the bubblets (little bubbles) that formed after I dropped quick dry solution. Anyway, I am starting to like it but for sure I'll change it before Monday.

I used China Glaze Frostbite and Orly Top Coat and a local quick dry solution.

Have you tried blue on your nails?

Lancome Color Fever LipStick: Pink In The Limo

I am sure I am not the only one in the blogging world who likes anything and everything pink (well, not all...just the pretty ones). One such pretty thing is the Pink In The Limo lipstick from the Color Fever range of Lancome ($25.00 or a little more than Php1000 here in the Philippines). Pink In The Limo is a pretty pearly shade and it is so pretty I don't wanna use (I don't even want to swatch it). LOL!

Here are some interesting facts about this pink lippie:

* Light Maximizer Technology reproduces reflecting prism effect.
* Combines with 3 fluid, transparent oils that coat the pigments.
* Allows color to stay fresh & shine with intensity for hours.
* Leaves a soft, comfortable sensation that dazzle with beauty.

The lipstick is smooth and soft but not exaggeratedly creamy, and most definitely not dry. I think that is good news for everyone, especially if your lips have the tendency to chap.

Anyway, I searched and found this swatch of the lipstick from Karen's blog. I have emailed her and ask permission if I can include the swatch in this article. I am still waiting for her to respond at this time. Once I get her permission, I will include the swatch in this post.

What is your favorite pink lipstick? I would love to know...

NOTD: I Nailed It!

I was supposed to go to school (Ateneo GSB) today and enroll for my MBA but I called and I was informed that the schedule will be on April 5. I decided to stay home and call the spa for them to send someone to do my nails(yes, they provide that service here where I live at no extra cost from the rate they charge when you go personally). I am not playing prima donna, I just hated how the sun glared so much today. I didn't wanna gamble and end up having dark spots all over my face (yes, I recently had a power peel session for my face). I was informed that the nail technician will come to work at 8PM (I called around 2PM). That would be too long of a wait so I decided to remove the Rouge Liberty on my nails and try to paint it with Royal Spice this time. Here's how the polish looks like:

Lancome Le Vernis in Royal Spice

I used the pink polish remover (it's my HG) from The Face Shop while watching a TV Show. It was so easy to remove it and didn't make my nails pink from the red pigment. And oh, the Lancome polish didn't turn my nails into a yellow mess too. I applied a nail strengthener from TFS which acts as base coat before applying the Royal Spice.

My nails after erasing Rouge Liberty and applying the base coat

After applying one coat of Lancome Le Vernis Royal Spice

I then applied two coats of Lancome's Royal Spice and I liked how it turned out. I know it could have had a better result if it was a professional who painted it on my nails but I tried. I am no expert especially when I have to paint the nails in my right hand using my left hand. Thank you to the nail polish corrector pencil sent by Tamara, it was so easy removing the side smudges. Love it!

Excuse the shaky hands of my instant photographer

After applying two coats of Lancome Le Vernis Royal Spice

This color stands up to its name being royal with a kick in it thus Royal Spice. It looks so elegant and classy and I bet if you ever liked OPI Romeo and Joliet then you will like this too. It is good as it is even without a top coat.
