Rockstar Food at Heaven and Eggs

6:31 PM

The last time I went to Heaven and Eggs in Glorietta with some of the supervisors and our then manager at work, the place was well-lighted and some chairs were faux swings with spring flowers all around. Upon entering the resto, you are welcomed by winged waiters and waitresses, wall of clouds and swinging chairs (which like I said looked like faux swings on porches in southern suburban homes). When I went back a couple of weeks ago, the place was transformed into a rocker's haven. Black and red interiors, leather-clad waiters and waitresses and the items on the menu were named after famous rockstars. I don’t know why the owners (Red Crab group of restaurants) decided to adopt the rock-star theme. I just didn't understand why the concert playing on the screen was that of Beyonce and then that of Madonna when I went there to eat. Oh well! I don’t know why the owners (Red Crab Group of Restaurants) decided to adopt the rock-star theme.

As envisioned by the group: "Although far from the country heaven theme which other stores still carry, the mission to provide the best comfort food and service to Heaven 'N Eggs patrons remain the same. Backed up with exhilarating adaptations of a rockstar lounge - cozy lighting and the colors black and red flood the interiors. Gone are the swings. In are the cushioned seats and sofas. Diners will surely feel like a rockstar with the ambiance -- LCD TVs playing rock concerts and all-day wholesome rock music."

Anyway, the menu was completely changed, the place was completely overhauled, almost 180 degrees to say the least. I ordered the Rockin’ Benedict (295) – Canadian ham on toasted English muffin and hollandaise sauce with grilled asparagus and shoestring potatoes. Eddene ordered Hendrix Hot Links Omelet (249) - Spicy Andouille sausage slices, sauteed bell peppers, cheddar cheese served with toast and crunchy shoestring potatoes. Jonah ordered Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs (255) - A Cantonese favorite, crisp tender salt and pepper crusted pork ribs served with Yang Chow rice. For the complete menu, click here.

Portions were generous and the plating was beautiful but the taste was not as good as I expected. I have to give credit where it is due though, the poached eggs for for my order were cooked to perfection (Gordon Ramsay will approve). I would probably come back to try out the desserts.
