My Nuffnang Story

11:00 PM

Where do I begin? I could not exactly remember how I knew of Nuffnang but I am sure that I encountered a eureka moment way back in June 2009. It's not that I have completely forgotten about everything and how it all started, it's because there were just so many memories from contests/activities/events that transpired. Please join me in recounting my Nuffnang story through quotations that have constantly inspired me.

I was doing my usual blogwalking when I first read about Nuffnang. I immediately checked out the webpage to read and know more about Asia-Pacific’s first and leading blog advertising community. I read the blog updates and there were two current contests ongoing at that time (Medicol League of Winners and You're The One, Goldilocks). I decided to join both after being a member right on the spot.

"You've got to get to the stage in life where going for it is more important than winning or losing." - Arthur Ashe

I immediately drafted my entries for the Medicol League of Winners and You're The One, Goldilocks promo. I won on the third day of the competition for Medicol and that secured me a spot for the grand prize. I was hoping to win on the first day but I had a hard time campaigning since I was in Dos Palmas that time. I can still recall how I got in an unpleasant conversation with a drugstore employee over the phone (my sister was the one who bought the Medicol caplets) because they refused to issue an official receipt for every five caplets bought. The call ended with them agreeing to issue the receipt as they understood why I needed such.

At the end of the competition, I won Php6000 Cebu Pacific airline gift certificates. I used it to buy the return tickets (MNL-DVO) of my dad, mom and sister when they visited me. I wrote about our trip to Boracay here. My sister won an iPod shuffle as well as my Uncle Don. Uncle Don is the one who patiently lined up to buy the Medicol caplets so big thank you goes out to him and to all my friends who spent their own money as well. Jonah, Joyce, Kristine and Rudy each won some Netopia surfing cards. Overall, I think and believe that I did not after all lose and I do not have the right to be a sore loser. If I count all the blessings that have been pouring in this year, I'd end up with a very long list for sure. I still am convinced that my job is a winner.

I also submitted my entry for Goldilocks but unfortunately I did not win. On second thoughts, my story was not at par with those who won. They clearly had to go through more difficult situations than I did in the past so they all deserved their win. I attended the awarding ceremony with my friend Jonah and we had fun decorating our cake and enjoyed eating it too.

I also joined the MTV search for the next famous blogger like no other. I did not win but I had fun writing about Denise Keller. Oh well, another lose but who cares? I still remained determined that one day I will bag that big prize. Patience with persistence are excellent virtues after all.

The loses I have experienced did not hinder me to participate in other contests sponsored by Nuffnang. It actually made me all the more inspired and motivated to keep going and participating. I also felt very elated that my readers have grown exponentially since I joined Nuffnang. This inspired me to write more often and to understand the demographics of my followers by looking at the analytics in my Nuffnang profile. When I started earning, I got more excited. It made me all the more excited to write more often than I used to. I've also engaged in regular blog walking to learn about how Nuffnang members handle their blogs. Seeing the passion in every blog entry I read made me feel accountable to my readers on a daily basis. I also had an experience when I became a non-exclusive Nuffnanger. I immediately thought that it may be because of the different ad units that I have posted in my blog. I had to do a complete overhaul of my blog until I returned to being a Glitterati. I couldn't be any happier then. I first cashed my earnings last February 2011. The month after that, I joined the ChurpChurp Rewards Program.

I still remember way back September 2009 when I read about the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards. I was so tempted to join but digressed because I thought my blog was still too new in the community so I ended up not joining. I still wish I joined though.

Another activity that I wished I joined was the Medicol Advance The Nation Launch. I was invited by the Medicol League of Winners Grand Winner Camille Mathay through Facebook. I signified willingness to attend but due to some important tasks that I had to handle at work I wasn't able too. Again, I still wish I joined.

The next contest I joined was the Glutamax The New Me blog post contest. Again, I did not win but I am just so happy to have been able to share The New Me to my readers. What did I do? I just brushed myself and waited for the next contest again. I then joined Century Tuna Superbods Run blog post contest. This time I won! Around this time, I have caught the running bug already and so I didn't have that much time to join other contests such as the Catch a Real Leaf: a Paparazzi Blog Contest, Living In The World of Taborea, Enervon Hapontukin Contest, Häagen-Dazs Melting Me Slowly Contest, among others. I however joined the Red Shoes Story Contest. I did not win again this time but I knew in my heart that I am so lucky to have a friend in Rojo (the main character of the story I submitted).

Through Nuffnang, I won for myself the complete range of Neutrogena Fine Fairness Essence too. The post in the Nuffnang webpage made me check the Neutrogena Facebook Page. I joined the Nokia C7 contest and unfortunately it was another lose for me. My entry wasn't creative enough to make the cut. Again, because of so many tasks to do at work I was not able to join the Minute Maid Pulp Up Your Blog contest. Even then, all the bad taste of losing were all quelled when I became a Glitterati member.

I can only thank Nuffnang for inviting me to special movie screenings. I got invited to watch Salt (thanks to Heaven Ice Cream), The Social Network (thanks to PLDT myDSL), X-Men First Class (thanks to Hapee Toothpaste). I missed quite a few screenings because of the venue or because of conflict in my work schedule (see I work the graveyard shift).

Nuffamily Day!!! Bloggers and their families (in my case, my friends) went to Tagaytay. JAC Liner (the first bus with WIFI) sponsored three (3) special trips from Bonifacio Global City (the Nuffnang Philippines headquarters) to Crosswinds Swiss Luxury Resort. We were allotted the helipad of the resort for the fun games, lantern lighting and other activities. It was good to see familiar faces and their families especially the young kids who all had fun more than the adults I suppose. The location was perfect I should say. We were served lots and lots of food (bread, chips, pizza, chicken burger, donuts and a whole lot more) and different choices of drinks. You could tell everyone enjoyed. This is the first family event I joined since joining Nuffnang a little over two years ago. I've attended movie screenings, contest awarding and other activities but this one tops it all. If this event will happen again next year, I will for sure attend again.

I also participated in the International Blog Day. I wrote a post about the six blogs that I have recently discovered. Being a part of the blogging community has introduced me to people that have become friends along the way. I can only thank my love for writing for all the experiences and memories that I have enjoyed thus far with Nuffnang. Come 16 December 2011, 500 bloggers from around the Asia-Pacific region will flock to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards 2011 in Putrajaya Marriott. The Awards aims to not only honour the region's best bloggers, but also to bring together blogger communities from across Asia-Pacific. The Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards is brought to you by Volkswagen Malaysia and Putrajaya Marriott.

I am fervently wishing that Nuffnang will grant me the opportunity to commune with bloggers from around the Asia-Pacific region. I hope that this event will be added to my treasure trove of memories. Nuffnang, please make it happen for me?
