Dreaming Of...

Boracay!

When it's March, my feet are being tickled by the thought of walking barefoot along the shore and bask under the Boracay sun. Must book a trip ASAP!

It's Christmas!

Sorry for the late post but I initially felt like just stashing the pictures in one album and post it in my Facebook but I digressed and decided Christmas 2009 deserves a spot in my blog...Oh yeah, my family had to celebrate an early Christmas because I had to fly back here in Manila couple of days before the real Christmas day.

First off, MERRY LATE CHRISTMAS from my FAMILY to YOURS! (At least no one will feel like I am shoving it to their throats to be merry since the day is finally over.)

I left Ninoy Aquino Centennial Airport on December 13 and had a very calm flight for Davao City (I slept in the plane). I was greeted by a shortage of pushcarts at the airport so I had to hire a porter to take my bags outside where my parents and sister and our new family pet is waiting. It was heartwarming to see them all again after our vacation last August. I realized...I missed them! We then headed for lunch and then I showered and changed to meet my college friends. We had pasta and crepe in a cozy Italian restaurant and then trooped to a nearby coffee house. It was fun catching up with the girls. I wished we could do it more often. And oh, Jade is engaged and her wedding will be in October.

After having coffee, I had dinner with my sister and her boyfriend in a restaurant that specializes in baby back ribs and steaks. The food was okay but not good enough for me to refer you to go there. The place was clean and the price was just right. We went home to rest to prepare for the road trip that was scheduled the next day.

From Davao City we headed to General Santos City (about 117km). We stopped by the newly opened Robinson's Mall for lunch. The mall is not pet-friendly so my dad had to stay in the car so he can watch over our dog. Chiz had instant fans from passersby. We then headed to Koronadal City (about 58km away from GSC). We passed by acres and acres of pineapple, banana and durian plantation. It was a safe and enjoyable ride. After buying some car wax and tire black in Koronadal for the carwash business, we headed to Tacurong City and then the pitstop for the day-long travel is Isulan. It was heartwarming to see familiar people in familiar places.

I pretty much spent most of my vacation in Isulan. I was not able to attend the Kate Torralba fitting for the trench coat I won in the Nestle Fitnesse Challenge so I had to measure my body stats myself and send them off to the designer. I hope I didn't overestimate or underestimate my measurement else I'll be wearing a funny-looking coat. I was able to catch up with some more friends and I attended church everyday. Two nights before my scheduled trip to Manila, we had a little party and family friends came over to visit. I was also able to bake some Devil's Food Cupcake with White Chocolates.

And oh, let me not forget to mention that I was still able to manage to squeeze in a few runs in the neighborhood with my cousin. I guess it was only but right for me to do it because I felt so bloated the entire time I was there. I enjoyed my stay and wished I had longer time to spend with my family. But work beckons so...

The Paradise That Is Boracay

My first Boracay experience happened only in 2006 (March) with some of my SSR coworkers (Dell). The second time I was with Brandon's mom and Rudelyn in 2007. I went back July of the same year with our Canadian trainers. In 2008, I decided to go back to celebrate my 26th birthday. And just last week, I went back again with my family. It was a short but sweet vacation time and believe it or not, it is the first family travel we took, just us. I know that it will not be the last time that I am going there and I will forever live up to the name I got christened with at work: "Boracay Queen". It's just because of the frequency of my travels there, not for any other incriminating reasons.

My travel this year has once again affirmed my love affair with the island.

How could I not love the place? First, I understand the dialect that the people speak. Second, you could forget about your stilettos and the way it makes your swag sexier while walking barefoot (or with your flip flops) on the shore...the fine sand will tickle and caress your foot and yes Boracay has the softest white sand beach I have ever been to.

I am one who loves a quiet rest but when I go to Boracay, amidst the noise of the local and foreign tourists alike, I can have my own slice of peace of mind. You look at the sea and the waves and you appreciate life more. You look at the simplicity of a coconut tree standing tall along the shoreline and you appreciate nature more.

I have always gone to Boracay during the summer months and so the travel last week was way off than before. This is the only time that I have seen waves taller than me (ahhh I'm exaggerating) but yeah the waves are really unusual than what I had experienced before. These waves are caused by the southwest monsoon or as the locals call it the hanging habagat. We went there on the 26th of August and got back to Manila on the 28th.

Day 1:
Our scheduled flight was moved from 10AM to 12NN aboard Zest Air due to some reasons that I wasn't made aware of. This is the first time that I travelled aboard Zest Air and they have considerably left a bitter taste in my mouth. I was still thankful that we landed safe at the Kalibo Airport. We then drove to Caticlan and took a boat to the port and then we took another ride to the hotel where we stayed. If you woke up super early in the morning to catch a flight that was moved two hours then all these vehicle transfers is no child's play. We were exhausted but still looking forward to our vacation. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking along the shore of White Beach. I had my hair braided and my sister just had to take a dip in the inviting waters. We were all just anticipating the sumptuous seafood dinner we were having that night. After dinner, mom and dad decided to retire to bed early while me and my sister went out to have some cocktails. We went back to our hotel before midnight to take some much needed rest for the activities in store the next day.

Day 2:
We hired a boat in the morning right after breakfast. The whole four-hour island hopping cost only Php1000 ($20). The first stop was the snorkeling site. I didn't really enjoy as much as I dd before because I think the Puerto Galera snorkeling site is way better than what Boracay has to offer. White Beach is nothing compared to the solitude and pristine beauty of Puka Island and Crystal Cove. In Crystal Cove you could explore two hidden caves and we were so lucky that it was low tide when we went there because we were able to swim to the other side of the cave, a place where I have never been before because I have this strange fear in me that the sea will engulf me in it's belly anytime. Ahhhh, silly fears!

Me and my sister had the time of our lives swimming in Puka Beach while waiting for our lunch to be ready. We had sweet and sour shrimp, buttered garlic shrimp, calamares (buttered squid rings), fish, oysters, mussels. I was too hungry to take a picture. Hahaha!

We went back to our hotel right after lunch and we were still so full of energy. We showered and changed and decided to walk farther away from our hotel and explore the rest of White Beach. I played photographer to my willing subject, the model that is my sister.

While having dinner along the shore, we witnessed a spectacular sunset. See for yourself...

Day3:
We decided to take a dip again after breakfast and then packed our bags right after. Boracay was sad to see us leave I guess. It rained while we were aboard the fast craft en route to the Caticlan port.

I will be back for sure...I just don't know when.

Polyvore and Some Updates

I finally got my parents' and my sisters' tickets for the vacation we are all having next week. I also have paid for the hotel and Boracay is just waiting for us. This will be the first time that we will have a family trip that's far from my place and their place. They will also be staying with me in my apartment for about a week. We haven't seen each other for more than eight months and I think this will be a good way for us to catch up.

As soon as I get home yesterday, I checked the mailbox and found some bills and another registered letter. I wasn't really excited to open it. I checked my bills first and I'm so happy to note that no bills are overdue. I was just a little sad looking at my Globe (mobile phone) bill because I did not consume my limit again. I have a PHP1800 monthly plan and I only need to pay Php600. I need to use my phone often. LOL! That or I need to leave the other two phones at home so I can use this postpaid service to it's maximum. I don't think they allow downgrades though. So, when I finally opened the registered letter, it was from Skycable, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a letter informing me that I won Php25,000 (around $500). I already forgot joining/creating a group when they relaunched their broadband service. Remember I wrote about trying their 15-day trial offer? I was jumping up and down. Now, I have more money to put in my bank account (or maybe shop) or spoil my parents silly. I called to confirm if it's a valid letter and lo and behold it is. I did win. List of winners here.

Anyway, I am on my rest day today but I had to attend a training so I am at work now. I just finished the training and I am headed to our HR department to pass my application for Social Security Loan. I have to apply before SSS gets a little more strict again.

I will leave you though with some of my Polyvore collages. Enjoy!

Vacation Video: Suddenly I See

Here's a video of our first day in Dos Palmas. I know this vid is long overdue.

Anyway, I hope y'all enjoy it... I am so happy I took this video because this reminds me so much of the awesome times we had together. I miss My Sweet Silly Prince and I am crazy anxious to be with him again. We plan to meet again in Amsterdam to visit the tulip fields...Oh how I wish the days will pass by faster...

The first half of this vid is a short vid I took while we were having a discussion about the island tour and waking up late and him stalking my old youtube account (sorry babe) and the other half are some pics we took.

Winning Streak

Whoa! I have been winning contests and raffles left and right and I am not complaining. I feel so blessed and at the same time lucky. I have never been this lucky all my life and just the thought of winning anything/something makes my heart skip a beat. I never won any raffle in my whole life thus #29 in my bucket list is now officially erased:

29. Win in a raffle promo. I have never won even once in my life.

I won Tamara's Cherritastic Giveaway and I am now eagerly anticipating the package she sent containing:

* Essence Quick Dry Nail Spray
* Essence Nail polish corrector pencil
* Essence Click & Color nail polish pen - 04 Hot Coral
* Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow - 03 Dress to Impress
* L'Occitane 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream (30ml)

When I got back to work last week, I was informed by the cafeteria manager (Urban Chef) that I won the raffle promo they had for the last couple of months (1 raffle entry for every Php75 you spend). I lost count of all the coupons I dropped but I think it's more than ten. I won the following:

* Airfare tickets from Manila-Kalibo-Manila for two (Cebu Pacific)
* Hotel Accommodation for two (I've yet to know the name of the hotel because the certificates were not awarded to me yet)

I told mom about it and I told her that I am giving it to her and dad and she said why don't I and my sis and Uncle Don just tag along. I think it's not a bad idea for some family bonding. Tentative date of travel: October

Just earlier today, Frances left a comment in my blog telling me that she has a surprise for me. Sure it was, I won her giveaway too.

* Fruity Jelly Lipgloss
* Moisture Extreme Pink Lipstick
* Watershine Collagen Shimmers Lipstick

BIG THANK YOU!!!

I've yet to hear about the other contests I've joined and I hope the winning streak won't fade too soon. I love winning and sharing.

Please don't forget to join my Blog Birthday Giveaway...Contest will run until July 26, 2009. Spread the word!

Summer Greens

I'm glad Sassy Jadore has extended her contest so that means I could still join... Yay! I just got back from an awesome vacation and here's my inspiration picture:

And here are "the look" pictures: (I picked this look because I want to relive the memories of my vacay with my boyfriend. I liked the feeling of togetherness and the green and blue colors of the trees and the ocean and the pool. Thinking about all these just make me blush all over again...Summer is my favorite time of the year because this is when a lot of bonding with friends happen and this is the time when we get a chance to travel to beaches and float in pools and just stuff ourselves up with summer refreshers. I was a bit sad when it had been a rainy summer here in the Philippines but I was more than happy that I was able to spend some days with my boy. Kind of like a summer extension.) So here goes...Not a pro but I tried.

For this look, I used mainly products I recently bought from a drugstore. I guess the palette is only available locally. I bought it because it is cheap and I wanna try it for practicing how to blend colors. I used different shades of green and blue and gray for the eyes. I also used the NB25 concealer from The Face Shop which is fast becoming my favorite. It glides evenly and very easy to apply. For the cheeks, I used another locally-produced tan blush. I found it a little challenging to play with the colors as I'm a little darker now from being under the sun for one too many days. I used an orangey-brown (don't know how to describe it) shade for my lips after exfoliating it with olive and sugar.

The resort we went to uses plant-based detergent to wash all the linens and towels and that made me a lot thankful to know that "Going Green" is indeed a worldwide effort already. Let's all do our share to save our environment. I want longer summers, not rainy ones...
